We had been tethered to home in Italy for several years. We were oppressed by the government and people for not being natural blood Italian. It wasn’t until my girlfriend Monique got pregnant that my parents nagged me to come back to the U.S. We pondered what was being asked by us to completely move to another country. In The end we didn’t want our child to grow up with the complete savagery of the Italian people that we ended up moving pack to America. However since we did not have a lot of money we boarded a boat to make the trip. Before our trip back we packed enough maize to feed the entire boat but we kept most of it for ourselves. Half way on our journey of months that Monique and I realized that the nativity of our baby might be on this boat. Two weeks later Monique birthed a beautiful baby girl. However the boat’s doctor said that there was a peculiar rash on the epidermis of our baby’s skin. Being in our defiant state of mind we dismissed the readings of the doctor. That night we had another succulent meal of maize and passed buoy number 1,009 which meant we were nearing the end of our journey. Boat docked in Miami and we got off and enjoyed the sun and excitement of our new home. The surprising dispersion of the other members on the boat meant that we could say good bye to the people we enjoyed on the journey over.
