I Believe

A few weeks ago my friends and I were at my friend’s house and we were flipping through the channels on the TV until we found the movie Forrest Gump. We watched it for about forty-five minutes until Forrest went to Vietnam. Normally teenagers would have just watched the movie, but not my friends. My friend Jeritt commented on how the Government should have been blamed for getting into the war. I don’t know if it was the way Jeritt said it but it got me and my friend Kevin to start discussing our political beliefs in the matter. At this point we are all out of lazy laying down positions listening to each other in a heated political debate. Thinking back to night it occurred to me why I choose who my friends. I choose my friends not only because they have a sense of humor but also are intellectual and can have intellectual conversations like we did. What’s also good about who I choose to be my friends is I can trust them. Most people I know really double guess that it their own friends are loyal and trustworthy to them. The fact I can trust my friends with anything is a reason I feel we can have debates and arguments like we did about anything. The definition of a friend is a person whom one knows and with whom one has a bond of mutual affection. Looking at my friends I believe that my friends know me and we do have a bond. Without my friends I don’t think I would be the person who I would be today. Because of my friend Ben I started to play volleyball which is my favorite sport. If my friend Kevin didn’t start playing with me I don’t think I would have continued to try and become better, Kevin and I are the best two hitters on the team. If I would have never went to aviation challenge and met friends from all over I would have never enjoyed aviation, aviation will more than likely be a majority of my major in college. These are just a few things in my life that because of my friends’ involvement changed my life and got me to find myself. Next year I will be going to Ohio University for college and going back a week from now I was really scared and nervous that I was going to have to restart finding new friends which seemed like a difficult task. A few days ago my friends decided that they were going to Ohio University. This relieved a huge load of stress for next year and I feel like I’m going to really enjoy college next year. The moral of what I’m writing is that humans may not the meaning of life but to make friends might be up there. I believe that friends are some of the most important and valuable things in ever day life.
